Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive
Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive
If you want premium comfort and a tire backed by a brand with over a century of experience, innovation and confidence, then you need the Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive.
Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive Features
The Assurance ComfortDrive is a premium all season tire with a luxurious and quiet ride, effortless performance and manageable handling, on both wet and dry roads. This tire delivers a reliable grip on the road even in wintry conditions. This is due to its symmetric tread design, Evolving Traction Grooves and Treadlock Technology that gives the driver a responsive vehicle and tire for dry handling.
For wet handling, the Assurance ComfortDrive uses AquaChannel Grooves and large lateral notches to remove water from the tire, increasing hydroplaning resistance and upping performance even on water-logged roads. The large sipes create biting edges that keeps the tire on the road in snow or icy weather. This tread also reduces noise from both the tire and air flow, giving passengers a quiet driving experience.
Not only does it offer a luxurious and confident ride in all seasons, it’ll last the test of time, too. This tire features Goodyear’s ComfortFlex tech which keeps ultra high levels of handling and steering responses while absorbing impacts. It’s supported by a two ply casing and twin steel belts, plus a reinforcement cap ply for enhanced speed.
The Assurance ComfortDrive is available in a huge range of sizes, from 16 to 20 inch rim diameters. You’ll find it available for fits for passenger cars, CUVs, minivans and SUVs. It fits many popular vehicles such as the Chevy Traverse, Nissan Maxima, GMC Acadia, Honda Accord, Toyota Rav4 and Sienna, Lexus IS and RX, Kia Sorento, Ford Explorer, Audi Q5 and many more.
Other performance features of the Assurance ComfortDrive include:
- ComfortFlex tech provides smooth transitions, impact absorption and ultra-refined handling.
- Evolving Traction Grooves and TredLock Technology is combined with soybean oil to maintain traction, give lasting control and responsiveness.
- Built-in wear gauges provide convenient and easy tire tread checks.
- Sustainably designed with soybean oil and rice husk silica, it reduces waste, increases traction and confidence, and doesn’t compromise fuel economy.
- Noise reducing tread pattern ensures a quiet ride.
- AquaChannel grooves maximize water evacuation, reduce hydroplaning and provide wet road performance.
Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive Treadwear and Warranty
Goodyear is confident in the performance and tire life of the Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive. It’s subject to a Tread Life Limited Warranty of 60,000 miles and the 30-day Goodyear pledge, which gives you 30 days to decide if you like the Assurance ComfortDrive or want to exchange them for a different set of Goodyear tires.

I will preface this review as saying this is coming from a 2016 2.0L Mazda 3 5-door hatch which has a notoriously loud cabin (until the 2017+ years where Mazda increased noise dampening materials along with vehicle weight). My main goal with going with these Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive tires was to see if they were less noisy (start to end of tread life). Previous tire was a Continental PureContact LS which lasted 31,000 miles before road noise became unbearable (noisy Mazda 3 cabin @ 4/32" left). The Continental PureContact LS tires were absolutely quieter than these when new and much more sporty, grippy, and responsive than these Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive tires. These Goodyear tires don't have the same wet acceleration traction from a stop either (FWD), which was disappointing; but as a trade-off I hoped these Goodyear would be quieter. Not the case. They aren't annoyingly loud, but there is a different cabin noise than the Conti's which catches my ear...think of it as a deeper (lower Hz) noise. As you can tell, I prefer the previous set of Continentals, which were also a less expensive tire. Also, at 6,751mi driven, these Goodyear tires have already lost 3/32" tread with less sporty driving than the Conti's were driven at. Time will tell, but if the wear rate does not taper off, these will not make it even to the half-way mark of the manufacture's 60000mi warranty. I will definitely be going back to the Continental PureContact LS after these wear out. Dry road grip is very good, but less than the Conti's. There is a nicer on-center steering vagueness and turn inputs are progressive, whereas the Conti's were a bit more sporty (dare say "twitchy" on dead center) and loaded up quicker. These Goodyears are much more cushy over bumps and road imperfections...the Conti's were harsh, especially as they aged. Wet driving grip I would say is a touch less than the Conti's in the corners, but perfectly acceptable and safe for the usual driver. As mentioned prior, the acceleration from a stop is not to the level of the Conti's, which I miss being in the wet PNW (still acceptable and better than the OEM Bridgstone Ecopia 422 Plus tires). Hydroplaning has not been a problem on either these Goodyear or the previous Conti's. Over all, if the price were less they are a very compelling tire and I still would recommend them, especially for cars with a quiet cabin; but wet acceleration grip and tread wear are areas I would fault them on so far.
Camry
Excellent tires, keep them rotated around 5-7 k. America’s Tires have the best service, would definitely recommend them to anyone.
XC60
These replaced the original Bridgestone tires. So far we're very happy with them. Great price and super smooth ride. Curious to see how they handle the snow.
Pilot
While we don't put a lot of miles on our Honda Pilot SUV, the miles we have driven on these tires over the past year have been very smooth. I have only purchased another brand of tires (big white puffy looking mascot) and LOVED those over the years but these Comfort Drive by Goodyear were an outstanding price/deal and I did a lot of research for what I was going to want and they came up as a top three option every time. Well despite being 100% loyal to another tire brand for the past 20 years, I can say I would purchase these Comfort Drive tires for my next set on the SUV with no hesitations. These handle really well as we like using our SUV for a long roadtrip each year and then it's basically just used to dart around town to kids soccer games/track meets, and commuting once to the office each week on the highway. They handle wet conditions really well, they ride very smooth and comfortable, the road noise is as good as any other tire I have had in the past (the road noise I hear I would definitely attribute more to the noise dampening of the car itself vs the tires. Since I don't have a vehicle that ranks really high on noise dampening, these tires have performed exceptionally well in that department and better than the ones that came on the vehicle from factory). The stopping distance is great. All in all, I am not a race car driver or one that is pushing my car or tires to the limit. My wife and I are pretty much drive our kids around for their activities, are not aggressive drivers, and these tires have been an outstanding value and purchase for how we operate the vehicle. I wanted 1. a good warranty of about 60k miles from a "Best category" of tire. 2. A ride that blends comfort/responsiveness with a good longevity (the rubber quality/tread is great on these) and 3. A great price for a tire in the "best" category as I only buy in that category. I got all of those things with these Comfort Drives.
